Markus Krön
Markus Krön was born in Salzburg in 1970. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (diploma in 1994). From 1989 to 2005 Markus Krön lived in Vienna. He currently lives and works in the Weinviertel and Attergau. Some solo exhibitions in recent years: 2020 “Favorite Pictures” in the Heike Curtze Gallery, Vienna; 2019 “Macht Still” together with Franz Braun in the GrenzART gallery, Hollabrunn; 2015 “Breathing and clouds”, art on the fortress, Salzburg, “the last building grounds” 44QM, gallery of the city of Hartberg, “it is beautiful everywhere” pictures of streets and clouds”, Galerie Heike Curtze, Vienna; 2012 “strange places”, solo exhibition at Galerie Unart, Villach; 2008 “Football pitches” Vienna Stripe, window surfaces at Naschmarkt based on a concept by museum in progress, Vienna;
2005 solo exhibition at the STRABAG Art Forum; Recognition prize from the STRABAG Artaward. Krön's works are represented, among others, in the collection of the STRABAG art Collection, Salzburg State Collections, the Federal Collection, the Museum of Modern Art Carinthia MMKK, the Lower Austrian State Collection and the City of Vienna. You cannot paint water because it is transparent. All you can see is the light that it reflects and everything that floats in it, floats on it and is reflected in it. The water entertains the painter with its constant transformation and optical illusion. For the passionate paddler and sailor Markus Krön, lakes, rivers and streams have an incredible attraction. Nothing has such a soothing effect on the mind.
